The California Museum, News10, and The Sacramento Bee have formed a partnership to provide the city of Sacramento a public, official mayoral forum. This forum will not only give all the candidates a chance to debate the issues, but it will also provide voters with a chance to ask questions on issues that matter to them.

WHAT: The California Museum has partnered up with News10 and The Sacramento Bee to provide the voters of Sacramento an open and honest discussion between their seven mayoral candidates. Not only will questions be given by panelists, community members can submit questions on issues that matter to them online in a chat room while the forum is in progress at News10's Live_Online.

WHEN: May 7, 2008 from 6:00pm to 7:30pm.
Viewers can watch the forum on Sacramento's News10 from 6pm to 7pm. The remaining 30 minutes of the forum will be broadcast via web video on www.news10.net and on our own homepage, www.CaliforniaMuseum.org.

WHERE: At The California Museum, located at 1020 O Street in downtown Sacramento.

WHO: All seven Sacramento mayoral candidates: Adam Daniel, Shawn Eldredge,
Mayor Heather Fargo, Kevin Johnson, Richard Jones, Leonard Padilla and Muriel Strand.

WHY: "Connecting the community with our leaders and providing meaningful conversation is necessary in an important mayoral election," says President and General Manager of News10, Russell Postell. "News10 is committed to supporting these conversations on all mediums and giving people an opportunity to participate.”

“Political discussion is part of California’s DNA,” stated French. “The Museum has dared Californians to make history and now we hope to become part of history in Sacramento. By engaging candidates and voters in a political discussion, I am confident this forum will remain a local tradition for generations to come. After all, this is the mayor of the capital of the eighth-largest economy in the world.”
