Poppies, Butterflies, and Bears! Oh My!

Looking for a new and educational fun activity for your family or youth group?

Poppies, Butterflies, and Bears! Oh My! is an engaging and interactive educational program to guide kids through the Museum as they "hunt" for poppies, butterflies, and bears -- just a few of California's many state symbols. Through craft projects and hands-on activities, kids will discover how symbols are used in everyday life, as well as be able to identify the Golden State's several other fascinating symbols.

For youth groups or day camps (July 7th to August 27th):
Instead of going to the same old places with your youth group, this new program will provide a rich and educational experience for kids of all ages.

Please allow 2 hours for the complete activity:
-- Learn the meaning of symbols by a Museum guide
-- Scavenger hunt through the Museum
-- Make a craft of a state symbol to take home

For families (July 9th to August 27th):
Every Wednesday, from 10am to 2pm, families can drop in for a fun craft (free with Museum admission) in the lobby, take part in a scavenger hunt and learn of California's rich history in the Museum.

And Museum members always have free admission!
