Workshops
Workshops are appropriate for grades 4 - college.
School groups will need a minimum of 2 - 2½ hours to complete a Workshop
and Museum Tour.
Fees: $5.00 per student, $3.00 chaperones (the Museum requires 1 adult for each 10 students).
Teachers enter free and will also receive one complimentary pass to view the Museum prior to their scheduled visit.

"31st Star" California Statehood Program and Museum Tour
Students will journey through time with a media presentation from the Spanish discovery of California to statehood. Learn about our bear flag's symbols and its creation. Teachers will receive a bear flag kit for students to assemble their own California Bear Flag back in the classroom. This program is aligned with state standards and is a great way to launch your social studies program! Following the program, students will receive a Museum orientation. A Museum Guide will then assist the group in completing their gallery guides as they continue through the Museum on a self-guided tour. Program is offered September 10 - December 7, Mondays through Fridays, 9am - 3pm. Please call for available dates.
Time of Remembrance Program and Museum Tour
Program on the Japanese American internment
What was it like living in an internment camp during World War II? Walk through a re-creation of an Internment barrack and hear first-hand accounts from presenters of Japanese ancestry as they share their stories of immigration and internment. Students will explore citizenship, constitutionality, and the concept of redress. Following the program, students will receive a Museum orientation by a Museum Guide. The Guide will then assist the group in completing their "Time of Remembrance" gallery guides as they continue through the Museum on a self-guided tour. Program is offered January-March, Mondays through Fridays, 9am - 3pm. Please call for exact dates.
