Dolores C. Huerta
Dolores C. Huerta is co-founder and first vice president emeritus of the United Farm Workers of America, AFL-CIO (UFW), and president of the Dolores Huerta Foundation. She is the mother of 11 children, and has 20 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Ms. Huerta has played a major role in the American civil rights movement. For more than 50 years she has been a political and cultural activist and grassroots organizer supporting a range of issues including desegregation, securing human rights, and improving public services for low-income people. Over the years, Ms. Huerta has received numerous awards and honors to recognize her political activism, including being inducted into the National Women’s Hall of Fame.
