Class Trip Activities

All student program are appropriate for grades 4 - college.

School groups will need a minimum of 2 - 2½ hours to complete a Program and Museum Tour.

31st Star - California Statehood Program and Museum Tour

Students will journey through time with a media presentation looking back at the Spanish discovery of California to the state’s entry into statehood.

Program runs March 23 - May 1, 2009, Mondays through Fridays, 9am - 3pm. The program also runs in the Fall.

Time of Remembrance Program and Museum Tour

What was it like living in an internment camp during World War II?

Walk through a re-creation of an Internment camp barrack and hear first-hand accounts from presenters of Japanese ancestry as they share their stories of immigration and internment. Students will explore citizenship, constitutionality, and the concept of redress. Following the program, students will receive a Museum orientation by a Museum Guide. The Guide will then assist the group in completing their "Time of Remembrance" Activity Sheet as they continue through the Museum on a self-guided tour. A free resource packet to prepare your class for this thought-provoking and powerful program is available.

Program runs January 20 – March 20, 2009 Mondays through Fridays, 9am - 12pm.

  • $5.00 per student
  • $3.00 chaperones (the Museum requires 1 adult for every 10 students).
  • Teachers are always free!
