“The Art of Gaman” Opening Reception

Join us for the opening reception for “The Art of Gaman: Japanese American Internment Camps, 1942-1946” on Sunday, January 19. In addition to free admission for all Museum members, festivities include complimentary refreshments, kids’ crafts, taiko drumming, “The Art of Gaman” book signing with Delphine Hirasuna and more from 1:00 to 4:00 pm.
A showcase of more than 120 artifacts made by Japanese Americans while interned at camps during WWII, this traveling exhibit explores the creativity and ingenuity of internees as well as the Japanese concept of gaman, or to endure the unbearable with patience and dignity.
