Join us for a screening of “Fair Legislation: The Byron Rumford Story” followed by a Q&A with filmmaker Doug Harris on Wed., April 19, 2017 from 5:30 to 8:00 pm.
The documentary tells the little-known story of California civil rights pioneer Assemblyman Byron Rumford, whose fair housing and employment legislation became the models for federal anti-discrimination laws during the Civil Rights era. The event also includes admission to the exhibit “The Legacy Continues: The California Legislative Black Caucus at 50” and a complimentary reception sponsored by the California Legislative Black Caucus preceding the film.
Presented in partnership with the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing in recognition of Fair Housing Month, the event is free with advance registration, limited to a maximum of 250 attendees.
