The California Hall of Fame Ceremonies
The California Hall of Fame is not just a yearlong exhibit - it is an honor.
It is an institution honoring those who embody the spirit of California – innovative, trailblazing, and inspiring - and have broken barriers to open pathways for the generations to come. The recognition each inductee deserves rarely happens, but when it does, it should be proportional to their grand legacy.
The winter ceremony in which the inductees are recognized by the Governor and First Lady opens with a spirited red carpet event and ends with a festive celebratory party.
The formal state ceremony between the two gives each inductee a chance to recognize a fellow inductee by reading an inspiring and special citation noting their remarkable achievements and spirit.

You can watch the ceremonies in our Screening Room or read the citations here.
"Only in California would a guy who doesn't fly introduce the world's best pilot."
The 2008 induction ceremony carried the excitement of the previous two years, as guests were treated to inspiring speeches by many notable individuals, including Jack Lalanne, Alice Waters, Clint Eastwood, and Jack Nicholson.
Building on the momentum from the first year, the Museum welcomed many notable guests, such as San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, then-Assembly Speaker Fabian Nuñez, Attorney General Jerry Brown, Secretary of State Debra Bowen, and Lt. Governor John Garamendi.
The inaugural ceremony of the California Hall of Fame was a smashing success. Californians were proud to finally have their very own hall of fame.
