Created to further the Museum’s mission to educate, enlighten and inspire visitors, free hands-on California learning workshops are offered on the fourth Saturday of each month.
The series provides engaging and entertaining experiences for kids ages 3 and up through a variety of California-themed crafts, activities and games aligning with State content standards on history, social sciences and the humanities.
Scheduled workshops include:
June 22, 2013: Greetings from California
Decorate your own California post card using a vintage travel-inspired template and your own designs inspired by California’s diverse history, art and culture.
July 27, 2013: Make Your Mark on History
Create your own “Spirit of California” medal highlighting a California Hall of Fame inductee or accomplishment you find inspiring to set your sights on making a mark on history.
August 24, 2013: Discover California’s Treasures: State Symbols
Explore California’s state symbols on a Museum treasure hunt and learn how to create your own state flower, state fish or state reptile to take home as a souvenir of your adventure.
September 28, 2013: I Love You, California
Celebrate California’s birthday by learning the official State anthem, “I Love You, California,” and designing your own California flag.
