“Patient No More: People with Disabilities Securing Civil Rights” chronicles the lives and legacies of the courageous Californians whose activism launched the American disability rights movement.

Developed by San Francisco State University’s Paul K. Longmore Institute on Disability and currently on a nationwide tour by Exhibit Envoy, the exhibit explores the significant events in California history that led to the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act in 1990. Its presentation coincides with the 40th anniversary of the Section 504 Occupation, a 26-day sit-in demonstration by 150 disability rights activists at San Francisco’s Federal Building in 1977.
