Meea Kang has been recognized as an innovative leader in the fields of affordable housing, transit-oriented development, and smart growth. As president and co-founder of Domus Development, she leads an award-winning infill development company that specializes in socially responsible and environmentally conscious building.
Smart Growth America presented Kang with the 2014 LOCUS Leadership Award for her exemplary commitment to public leadership and development practice for walkable, sustainable development. Her projects have been honored with national accolades from prestigious agencies including the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, American Institute of Architects, U.S. Green Building Council, and the Governor’s Environmental and Economic Leadership Award, California’s highest environmental honor.
Kang earned a Masters of Architecture from UC Berkeley and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Cornell University. Kang serves on the Board of Directors for Rail~Volution, Council of Infill Builders, Sacramento Housing Alliance and on the Board of Trustees for the California Museum. She is a member of Smart Growth America’s LOCUS Steering Committee, the California Housing Consortium Board of Governors, UC Davis Center for Regional Change Advisory Committee, Urban Land Institute and Lambda Alpha International. Kang was recently appointed by Governor Jerry Brown to serve on the Capitol Area Committee.
