The California Museum depends on the generosity of our Museum family and friends to meet the enormous cost of producing exhibits, providing fantastic programming and inspiring the tens of thousands of schoolchildren that visit us each year.
The California Museum is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. Income from admissions, store sales and facility rentals account for only a small fraction of our operating costs. Individual and corporate gifts, foundation grants, exhibit sponsorship, charitable giving (such as United Way) and fundraisers must make up for the rest.
As a private non-profit 501(c)3 organization operating in
partnership with the State of California, the Museum relies on
proceeds from admissions and Museum Store sales as well as
support from the community and sponsors to fund its general
operations.
Members are the foundation of the Museum’s community of support.
Thanks to the generosity of members, the Museum can continue to
produce exciting new exhibits and exceptional programming and
meet its mission to educate and inspire visitors with
California’s history, arts and culture.
