Activism & Democracy Onsite Field Trip

Designed to increase student civic engagement, this onsite field trip program explores California’s history of activism and legacy in leading social movements that shape democracy.

Includes a 45-minute interactive classroom program followed by completion of an activity sheet and self-guided tour of the Unity Center and current exhibits, plus pre- and post-visit activities.  Groups may choose to explore the Museum after the program for an additional 45 minutes (90 minutes total). Aligned with 6th-12th grade History-Social Science, Common Core ELA, Civics outcomes and Ethnic Studies.

Upon receiving a booking, the education department tailors the program to the specific grade level requested; an individual program is not appropriate for the full grade span listed above.

Admission:

Students: $6.50 each*
Chaperones: $6.50 each*
Teachers: Free

*To receive discounted admission, reservations for a minimum of 20 paid participants are required and must be made a minimum of 14 days in advance. Groups with fewer than 20 participants subject to $120 flat rate. ​

 

Activism & Democracy Virtual Field Trip

Designed to increase student civic engagement, the Activism & Democracy Online Field Trip explores California’s history of activism and legacy in leading social movements that shape democracy.

Includes a pre-recorded video tour of the Unity Center and a downloadable digital artifact kit, followed by an interactive Zoom session featuring a docent-led presentation and resources for a post-program project. Aligned with 6th-12th grade History-Social Science, Common Core ELA, Civics outcomes and Ethnic Studies.

Upon receiving a booking, the education department tailors the program to the specific grade level requested; an individual program is not appropriate for the full grade span listed above.

$75 flat fee
