California’s Journey Virtual Tour
Available year-round

Explore how people came to California and shaped the modern state in this virtual tour for distance learning students spanning the history of Californians from its Native peoples and Gold Rushers to the transcontinental railroad builders, tech-boomers and beyond.

Includes a taped video tour of five exhibits and a downloadable digital artifact kit, followed by a live Zoom session featuring a docent-led presentation of Gold Rush stories from a variety of perspectives and resources for a post-visit oral history project.* Aligned with 3rd-12th grade History-Social Science, Common Core ELA, Civics outcomes and CASEL Core SEL Competencies.

Admission:

Up to 100 participants Title 1 schools  

Free during distance learning

Up to 100 participants non-Title 1 schools

$50 when booked by August 31, 2020

9 am – 3 pm

 

*Participants required to have Internet access to view Vimeo videos, PDF reader software and a Zoom account. Additional online meeting platforms available by advance request.
