California’s Journey

In this interactive, docent-led program, students will explore the impact of immigration on early California. Utilizing our dynamic exhibits, including “California Indians: The First People,” “California Missions,” and “Gold Mountain: Chinese Californian Stories,” students will use artifacts and primary sources to reflect on what pushed early Californians to leave their homes, and what pulled them to the Golden State.

The field trip includes classroom resources to use before and after your trip, as well as structured Museum exploration. Resources are aligned with 4th grade History-Social Studies and Common Core Standards, and can be adapted for grades 3-8.
