Commemorate the 75th anniversary of Executive Order 9066 and the grand opening of the new exhibit “Kokoro: The Story of Sacramento’s Lost Japantown” on Sun., Feb. 12, 2017 with festivities including:
- “Sacramento’s Historic Japantown: Legacy of a Lost Neighborhood” book signing with author Kevin Wildie
- Screening of the Center for Sacramento History’s 2016 documentary film “Replacing the Past: Sacramento’s Redevelopment History”
- Hands-on activities including kana (or Japanese alphabet) and origami demonstrations
- Tours of newly-updated exhibit “Uprooted! Japanese Americans during WWII” led by formerly-incarcerated docents
